Citrix Workspace app for Windows is an easy-to-install app that provides access to your applications and desktops using Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Citrix DaaS formerly Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service from a remote client device.

Citrix Workspace app provides access from your desktop, Start menu, Citrix Workspace user interface, or web browsers. You can use Citrix Workspace app on PCs, tablets, and thin clients. By using Citrix StoreFront with Citrix Workspace app, your organization can provide self-service access to applications and desktops. And that access comes with a common user interface, regardless of the endpoint device hardware, operating system, or form factor.

Citrix Workspace app for Windows is adapted for use in languages other than English. For a list of languages supported by Citrix Workspace app for Windows, see Language support. This article gives you advance notice of the phase-out of platforms, Citrix products, and features so that you can make timely business decisions.

Citrix monitors customer use and feedback to determine when they are withdrawn. Announcements can change in subsequent releases and might not include every deprecated feature or functionality. Deprecated items are not removed immediately. Citrix continues to support them in this release but they will be removed in the future. The Citrix components and technologies in this release that support Windows Server platforms now also support Windows Server , unless otherwise noted.

We have added a feature to let you replicate a user store to multiple paths upon each logon and logoff — in addition to the path that the Path to user store policy specifies. The feature is implemented through the Replicate user stores policy. To synchronize to the user stores files and folders modified during a session, enable active write back. This feature does not currently support full container solutions. For more information, see Replicate user stores.

By default, Citrix Profile Management impersonates the current user to access user stores. Therefore, it requires the current user to have permission to directly access the user stores. Enable this feature if you do not want Profile Management to impersonate the current user when accessing user stores. You can put user stores in storage repositories for example, Azure Files that the current user has no permission to access. We recommend that you use Workspace Environment Management to eliminate the need of configuring the same credentials for each machine where Profile Management runs.

If you use Windows Credential Manager, use the Local System account to securely save the credentials. To ensure that NTFS permissions are retained, you must put the entire profile in a profile container.

For more information, see Enable credential-based access to user stores. We have added a feature to accelerate folder mirroring.

With both the Accelerate folder mirroring and the Folders to mirror policies enabled, Profile Management stores mirrored folders on a VHDX-based virtual disk. It attaches the virtual disk during logons and detaches it during logoffs, thus eliminating the need to copy the folders between the user store and local profiles. Workspace Environment Management includes the following new features.

We added support for the Windows 10 also known as 20H2 template introduced in Citrix optimizer. You can now use Workspace Environment Management to perform template-based system optimizations for Windows 10 machines.

The release introduced event-only recordings — the ability to record only specific events throughout a session — without capturing any screens. However, there are scenarios where you might want to automatically start recording screens when certain events occur during an event-only recording. As of this release, you can configure this recording behavior event-triggered dynamic screen recording using event response policies. For more information, see Event response policies. We have extended the scope of event logging to monitor file transfers between session hosts VDAs and client devices including mapped client drives and generic redirected mass storage devices.

Selecting the Log sensitive file events option for an event logging policy triggers the logging of file transfers, no matter whether or not you specify the File monitoring list. This enhanced feature requires Windows VDA or later. For more information, see Configure policies. In addition to recording screens, you can now record only specific events. This feature helps to free up storage space.

To use this feature, activate either of the following new system-defined policies and then set an event logging policy to specify which events to record. An event-only recording played in the web player contains an event statistics pie chart and histogram. The pie chart and histogram hold static throughout playback.

You can navigate to a specific event from within the right pane. The following screen capture shows an example of an event-only recording being played in the Session Recording Player. The EventOnly column indicates a screen recording or an event-only recording. All events are present in the Events and Bookmarks panel and show as yellow dots in the lower part of the Session Recording Player. Labs features are previews of potential functionality.

While a feature is in Labs, do not use it in production. There is no guarantee that this feature will be included in the product, nor that it will work the same way if it is. To use a Labs feature, enable it in System settings. Preserve custom columns that degrade performance. Previously, on the Search node of the Full Configuration management interface, custom columns that degraded performance disappeared after you refreshed the browser window or signed out of the console and then signed in.

You can now control whether to preserve those custom columns. For more information, see Use Search in the Full Configuration management interface. Use the Automated Configuration tool to back up and restore. We added a node, Backup and Restore , to the Full Configuration management interface.
